A real "We had to destroy the village in order to save it, and now the villagers don't support our neoliberal politics, the ungrateful idiots!" vibe.

It's someone broadly sympathetic to the same kind of ideas that lie behind the current article, he's just honest enough to admit in this case it was all built on propaganda.
