NBA already offers the ability to watch games via VR. It’s a 180 degree camera set up court side.

Even so, it’s not about perfect immersion. It’s about having the best view of the game sitting from home.

Imagine full 3d scan of the players in real time. You could move around the court and watch them play.


What are the technologies that would make this possible? My assumption is that you have multiple cameras around the court, similar to how the infamous matrix bullet dodging scene was captured, and then use that to create an explorable virtual environment. I'm fascinated by this. Thanks!
