THIS. This is finally one Elon thing I can get behind!
With a new Windows 11 laptop, this is the dance I have to do. I've done it over 100 times now, maybe more.
Boot laptop to welcome screen, hit Shift+F10 to get to terminal. Then taskmgr. In task manager, click new task, ms-settings:settings (run as admin) then you're in settings to create a new user without a microsoft account.
BUT STILL THEN, I have to go through the effing setup and create a fake outlook account, which is usually win11acct403383@outlook.com and then get to the desktop and trash that account. BUT FIRST, I have to turn off bitlocker (which is enabled by default now?) because it stores the effing encryption key in that fake/newly-created account. #Bullshit
So, the "free speech absolutist" who bans users if they post opinions about him that he does not like is complaining about Microsoft requiring an account to use Windows, while at the same time having made sure you need an account to view content posted on Twitter.
I understand that Elon is living in a tech-bro/right-wing-conspiracy-nuts bubble and does not appear to understand much anymore (and no, I am not blaming his drug use for that).
But even Elon himself must at least for a short moment having realized the hypocrisy of this?!
Also, I can not understand how educated and reasonable people like Nadella are still even picking up the phone when Elon calls...
Man, how do I miss the times when the IT industry wasn't run by narcissistic billionaire idiots like Musk or Altman but by clever people that had competence, decency and vision (Wozniak, Page, Brin, Yang, Gates, etc.).
