However much of that stuff can basically be piled and is not really damaging to the environment. Lithium is usually only about <5% of any given rock. That is far better then blowing tons of things into the air. Its just a stack of crushed rocks.

Or salts left over from brine extraction, which is a frequent method of lithium extraction (and other resources, too).
